Any updates for the 83rd (2013-2014) session?

Definitely!  83rd Session legislators, committee assignments, district maps, and bills are now available for existing TexLege app installations. Photos of the newest members and committee meetings/events aren’t going to display correctly for existing TexLege installations though.  I’ve pushed TexLege 2.7 up to the App Store, so hopefully they’ll review my changes and publish the updated app within a week or so.  Legislative staff information and the details on new members’ district offices are still pending official  publication by our friends at the Capitol.  Once those lists are published, that should wrap up all the remaining items for a fully feature-complete TexLege.

I also wanted to mention that I developed the (free) Open States iOS application for the Sunlight Foundation.  It covers the basic legislative information for the legislators, committees, bills, and events for each of the 50 state legislatures.  The data collection for Open States is largely automated instead of manually aggregated, so even though it isn’t as specialized for Texas, the updates are more frequent and will happen quicker than for TexLege.

Regardless, I’m as anxious as you are to see TexLege with data for the 83rd!

As always, thanks for your support!

I love your application, and used it extensively last session. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to be working at all right now–no committee data, bill tracking ,etc. Is there an update that I need to download that I might have missed?

Hi Jay, I think most of this should be resolved at this point. I think you were seeing a combination of issues, primarily my data server was down, but also I didn’t have new committee assignments in the database yet. They should be up and running now. At this point, I’m lacking an up-to-date legislative staff directory and also updates to the various district office locations of the freshmen members. Hopefully we’ll see the legislature publish these components in the very near future.

Great app. I did notice members are missing from the House Insurance and Senate Business and Commerce Committees. Chris Turner and Sergio Munoz are missing on the committee page, and Kelly Hancock and Larry Taylor are missing on the B&C page.
